#1153 closed bug (worksforme)

Link on Linux with new binutils fails

Reported by: HorstVonBrand Owned by:
Milestone: Triage Keywords: linux

New binutils (like here on Fedora rawhide) only link against shared libraries that are explicitly given, no more against shared libraries that are linked by others that are included. In my case, I had to add -lSDL to the link line in src/Makefile (I don't understand enough autoconfiscation to do so cleanly, sorry)

What version of binutils does Fedora consider "new"? Still builds fine on Debian Sid - though I think the SDL libs are explicitly linked once you've configured it to build SDL support. I'm not sure this is a bug - are you saying that you could build SDL support with your previous binutils without adding -lSDL to the link line and without using configure?
