Bigger screens:

  • print the longest object description possible
  • don't put too much space between descriptions and weights

Smaller screens (see FA)

  • "I [Nick] have done a hackish version of reduced length descriptions for FA (! for potion, etc), but it would be good to have a unified way of doing context-dependent length one-line descriptions."

I think a good way to do this would be to pass object_desc() some kind of ODESC_TERSE flag to indicate we want really terse descriptions. And then add some kind of table code which would take a table to display and place it on the scree in a size-aware fashion.
