#1374 closed bug (duplicate)

Loading window preferences doesn't work

Reported by: Derakon Owned by:
Milestone: 3.3.0 Keywords: prefs

Description

When you create a new character and load a pref file, it loads the window settings. However, these settings are not applied to the windows. You have to go into the window settings, turn off the toggles, exit out, go back in, and turn them back on before they work.

Does it make a difference whether the pref file is loaded manually or automatically?

Are you saying that the window settings loaded from a pref file are failing to override those set in the savefile? If I change my window settings without saving prefs, the change persists when I reload, ergo the settings are stored in the savefile anyway. So why would one use pref files at the moment? (I know we ought to separate settings info from the savefile, but that's a different issue.)

My process in this case was creating a brand-new savefile, then loading the pref file for a previous savefile. This does properly set all of my play options, and it places the toggles in the right places for the window settings, but those toggles are not obeyed until I manually flip them twice.

Once loaded and saved, the preferences will stick around when I reload the savefile. It's only a problem for newly-created characters.

Ok - this needs to be dealt with alongside #671 and #758. I haven't actually confirmed this behaviour, but I assume it is as Derakon says.

Sorry, have to give these up as I have not yet mastered the pref file code.
