CPU spikes on (firefox 3.0b5, csrss.exe) when loading angband 3.0.9b or 3.1.0/current

Description

This may be a bug in Firefox 3.0b5, but I felt it worth mentioning:
System, Windows XP SP2, single processor, no hyperthreading.
Angband 3.1.0 rev 882, compiled with MinGW in cygwin environment with export MINGW=yes, run configure, make using Windows makefile. Also occurs in stock 3.0.9b from rephial.org but not 3.0.9 + apwborg (haven't tried stock 3.0.9).

When loading angband.exe: firefox and csrss.exe show high cpu usage (varies slightly; typical is csrss 40% firefox 50% angband 0%).

Angband eventually loads, but it can take a little while.

I've attempted to isolate the point where this happens, but adding -g or -ggdb doesn't seem to produce debugging symbols (with or without MinGW, and with or without MinGW's gdb.exe).

I have no idea what's going on here, and I very much doubt there's anything I can do to fix it on my end...
