#613 closed bug (fixed (in master))

"Harmless" actions prevented by {!*} inscription

Reported by: ekolis Owned by:
Milestone: 3.1.1 beta Keywords:

I can't even 'I'nspect or 'b'rowse objects marked with {!*} inscriptions without getting "Are you sure?"! Not sure if this is intended or not, but it didn't happen in old versions of Angband, and it's annoying, so I think it's a bug...

Well, it's nice to see that !*!*!* actually makes you confirm three times again.
It would be nice if you actually had to tap Y three times, Maybe a hack to disable keyrepeating during confirmation?

I noticed in the fix for this bug that you made inscribing a "harmless" action, but not uninscribing? I agree with the latter but I would say that inscribing is not harmless either, as you can effectively uninscribe something by inscribing it and clearing the text, so if you have something inscribed {!*} and you try to inscribe it, you should be warned because by doing so you could remove the {!*} inscription itself.

My rationale for this was that it's much harder to accidentally inscribe something, since there's an automatic second prompt and you get told on-screen about the old inscription. I'll change it if you disagree.
