#655 closed bug (wontfix)

Priests are now horribly unfair. {Psuedo-ID}

Reported by: anonymous Owned by:
Milestone: 3.1.1 beta Keywords: id

Low level priests have no cheap pre-id methods.
Remove curse is useless at sorting the junk from the gems now that things can be [-x] without being cursed.
Without changing anything in the dungeon, the best way would be, IMO, to make remove curse into 'sanctify', making any [-x] (-y,-z) to zero, and removing any normal curse. if not ided, add {safe}. Cursed artifacts/egos could rebound with a medium-light punishment, eg. non-lethal damages to hp or mp, conf or stun.

A lot of the early priest spells are redundant or soon worthless. Slow poison? remove fear? bless? all three are rendered pointless by an easy to acquire higher spell or a resistance.

?? Given the reliance on bless by some of the game's most proficient players, I suspect they would disagree with you. And resist fear has never been easy to acquire (except for warriors at cl30). You are right about Slow Poison though.

priests now have the same pre-id methods as everyone else-- you wield something to bind out its bonuses, and if it's cursed, you just have to use remove curse. closing.
