#796 closed bug (fixed (in master))

NumPad does not work properly when using PuTTY (main-gcu)

Reported by: magnate Owned by:
Milestone: 3.1.2 beta Keywords: gcu

Description (last modified by takkaria)

When using PuTTY with NumPad? set to Normal and NumLock? on, my NumPad? keys produce the digits 1-9 when typing in the Linux console. When I start angband, they produce the following:

1 is q
2 is r
3 is s
4 is t
5 is u
6 is v
7 is w
8 is indeterminate (suspect x)
9 is indeterminate (suspect y)

Toggling NumLock? does not change this. Messing with PuTTY's NumPad? setting produces different mappings, but PuTTY is not the problem, as it produces 1-9 perfectly normally on the console.

If anyone else suffers from this, there is a workaround: set angband to use roguelike commands, and set PuTTY's NumPad? setting to "Nethack". This makes the NumPad? work properly, but of course means you have to use all the other roguelike commands. Very painful for me as I have been using the standard keyset for 9 years.

This patch fixes the problem (I think) but I want to get some feedback before committing it.

The patch works perfectly for me - I can now play via PuTTY, or in an xterm, or in a console, all with the NumPad working properly. Many thanks.
