Replying to ajps:
Tried out 1583; it no longer happens when the monsters are not seen at all, but the messages are still pretty steady when you have ESP and are aware of a demon or dragon pit.
Maybe the messages should only occur when the monster is within a certain distance of the player, or is targetable, or something like that. Having the message for aware or monsters is still too much.
I don't have an account, so can't reopen this, but it isn't fixed yet.

Commit 1652 fixed this in HEAD and it is also fixed in 3.1.1.

Dragon pits in particular are driving me mad with this push past feature. Also, even when I take off my esp source (after having seen the dragons), it continues to give messages like "Something pushes past something". I am trying to come up with a case where that could be useful information, and other than telling me that there are awake mobile monsters out there, I don't see it.
This one makes 3.1.1 unplayable at depth right now. Running 3.1.1.1577 beta
