#992 confirmed change

Make multi-breath effects better than single breath effects

Reported by: magnate Owned by: magnate
Milestone: v4 Keywords: magic interesting affixes

Description

At the moment a wand of Dragon's Breath or a multi-hued DSM activation is actually worse than a single-breath attack: if the monster resists one or more elements, there is a chance that the random breath attack will be wasted, whereas you always know whether or not your single-breath attack will work.

d_m's proposal is that these multi-breath attacks should automatically find any resistance holes the monster has.

My own idea was to let the player choose the element to be used, but that would involve creating an additional prompt.

Similarly other DSMs: Law, Chaos, Balance, Pseudo. Only Power is unresistable.

Ok, now that #803 is done, I can do this d_m's way at least, without waiting for #1041.

Punting in accordance with new milestone policy (that any other milestone is only set once someone is actually working on the ticket).

See http://plastic-idolatry.com/angband/log/%23angband-dev.2011-10-24.log for how this will be made easier once #1567 is done, in particular the discussion about recharge times. We'll still need a UI for making the choice though.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
